Introduction: Stories about immortals have been in circulation in China since ancient times. Expecially after the appearance of Taoism, such stories became very popular, because one of the aims of Taoism disciplines was to achieve immortality. The more than 100 stories in this book have been selected from Accounts of the Saints, Stories of Immortals and other classics dealing with this subject. Though the stories in this book are short, they are full of the pithy wit and wisdom of this esoteric branch of the Chinese cultural tradition.
