Behind the rise of China at the time was a hero of ethnic Mongols and of all Chinese people-Genghis Khan, recognized as the founding father of the Yuan dynasty. With combined aplication of his political rules and military strategies, Genghis Khan reunited the nomadic Mongoal tribes and led oever 100,000 of his Mongol cavalrymen to charge the Central Capital (now Beijing) of the Jin dynasty in the name of revenge for a blood feud. Later, knowing that a big nation in the West had butchered his trade caravan of nearly 500 members and his envoy sent to resolve the dispute, he angrily declared a war against that nation and personally led the army on the battlefield. On his way to the West, Genghis Khan defeated all those who dared to challenge, killed royal family members of the enemy states, won overwhelming vistories over their armies, and conquered the nation that butchered his trade caravan and envoy. Shortly before his death during the crusade again the Western xia dynasty, he vowed to conquer the Jin dynasty and the Xia dynasty, and to consolidate his reign over the vast span of territories already under his control. These, as his last words, were carried on by his successors to unify North China, and then entire China. Since then, over 700 years have passed, and there have been numerous literary works and historic studies discussing his successes and failures. And there has been one point that almost all of them agree-Genghis Khan was truly one of the greatest personalities of this millennium.
